PHILOSOPHY

Site

Every building begins with a site and its circumstances.

The site is how we connect to the ground, each other, the street, neighborhood, and city. From this perspective, architecture is more than building on a site.

Memories

To promote a sustainable relationship with the site, the building and neighborhood, we are compeled to remember.            By confronting the brokness of things we find renewal.

Our vision for preservation and renovation projects honors the building's past, while finding its future potential.

Theater

Light creates and animates space. It gives emphasis and rhythm, it marks space and allows us to experience the building. Light completes the project, so we determine early the distinctive features that will make it the fundamental way we understand and use the constructed work.  The goal is to frame and enrich our experiences and create memories.

Bullfight

The bullfight presents the toreador and the bull in a fight to the death. Gravity and Economics bind architecture to the ground.  These forces are in the same time and place we are.          The goal is to win.

Geometry

Preference for the simple and primary forms combined to achieve order and balance. Geometry controls the balance of the spaces and makes them recognizable and understandable.

Materials

Natural materials have strength and durability. They modify in time and space their aspect, their structure and, as a consequence, their appearance.

Ethical Meaning

Beyond visual appeal Architecture should have a ethical meaning. The aim is to combine quality living and visual delight. The search for a better quality of life propels our search for a better space for life.
